I loved how shortboards in the 80's caught waves and with the shortboards I make, I'm trying to capture that, and then I take a look at specific performance aspects. I don't have patience for boards that don't paddle well. In choosing which model to look at, the type of waves being ridden is the main factor and then your surfing style is the next element--what do you want to do on the waves? I almost always integrate modern concaves and rails to my shortboards, but frequently in conjuction with flatter decks and a bit more thickness through the foil of the board. If you're after a modern performance board I have plenty of experience with that as well, it's just that there is so much of that in the marketplace that it's a lot more fun to focus on more creative designs. Whatever your goals for your shortboard, I have total confidence that I can make a board for you that will meet and exceed that, with style, great craftsmanship and materials to last for many years.
